From the perspective of High Schoolers - Sam & Grace

This is a song dedicated to First Responders. It’s not new, so it doesn’t touch base with what exactly is happening in our world right now. Despite this, it shows and explains how they are just doing their job and trying their very best to save people’s lives, and they are meant to be trained and here for our country through anything.

Activities:

  • write a prayer about your worries to God.
  • print out coloring sheet
  • put something on your doors or windows to show your appreciation towards the first responder. (painting on window, paper, etc)
  • pray to different saints who are patrons of first responders. ex: St. Michael, St. Florian, Christopher the Saint, St. Camillus, etc.
I feel very scared because my dad is a first responder for the police department and I worry about him every time he goes to work. I feel like there could be a way I could help him but there really isn’t. I am also feeling sad because my dad doesn’t live with me so I can’t see him until the quarantine is over. This also makes me a bit stressed because I don’t know what is going on in his life or if he is feeling ok. He also doesn’t tell me much because he doesn’t want me to worry about him
My name is Sam Giglio and I have recently been very scared and uptight about my dad, a Chicago police sergeant, going to work everyday. It’s stressful knowing that he could be exposed to anything, and then bring it back home to elderly grandma who lives with us. On the other hand, I feel a sense of security knowing that he is able to keep himself safer by staying in his office, and wearing a mask and gloves. There’s not much anyone can do to help, but small things like this can give one a sense of security and can help calm those nerves.
