"Stand" Rascal Flatts

We all carry our crosses, our own burdens. Just as Jesus fell with His cross, we have all faltered. During this Lenten season, we may have struggled to keep our promises and may have even broken them.

“‘Cause when push comes to shove, you taste what you're made of. You might bend till you break,'Cause it's all you can take. On your knees, you look up, decide you've had enough.”

Jesus, in immense pain, stood back up. Pushed by the soldiers, berated by onlookers, with the weight of the cross on His back - He stood back up.  We must also keep striving to keep going when we fall, to be better - to grow in faith and grow in love.

“You get mad, you get strong, Wipe your hands, shake it off. Then you stand, then you stand.”

As you listen to the song, reflect on where you get your strength. What motivates you to keep going when you fall?

“Jesus, the cross You have been carrying is very heavy.
You are becoming weak and almost ready to faint, and You fall down.
Nobody seems to want to help You.
The soldiers are interested in getting home, so they yell at You and try to get You up and moving again.”

Jesus, when we falter in our own lives, help us to remember this moment. When you fell and had no one there to help, you found strength to get back up. Help us find the faith to also stand and see we do have help, from you, our God.
Amen.
