“Jesus, You feel so alone with all those people yelling and screaming at You.

You don't like the words they are saying about You, and You look for a friendly face in the crowd.

You see Your Mother.

She can't make the hurting stop, but it helps to see that she is on your side, that she is suffering with You.

She does understand and care.”

"Never Alone" Lady Antebellum

Approximately thirty years prior to this moment, Mary opened her heart to God and trusted Him completely. Now, she is watching her beloved Son endure unimaginable pain and there is nothing she can do to stop it. She is helpless. Embracing her Son, once again all she can do is trust God completely.

Reflect on a time in your life when someone’s embrace was all you needed to keep going. Perhaps Jesus’s ultimate role model was His mother Mary. Do you have someone in your life who taught you the way Mary taught Jesus?

As you listen to the song, open your heart to the lyrics. Imagine Mary singing them to her newborn Son, promising to protect Him for His entire life.

“Now I have to be honest, as much as I want it, I’m not gonna promise, the cold winds won’t blow. So when hard times have found you and your fear surround you, wrap my love around you.”

Now, imagine Jesus carrying His Cross and singing these words to His Mother.  Jesus knows He has to leave behind the one who has loved Him all His life.

"Wherever you fly, this isn’t goodbye.”

But Mary knows that while He is physically gone, Jesus’s love will stay with her forever.

“My love will follow you, stay with you. Baby you’re never alone.”

Now, pray the Hail Mary in honor of someone who has been by your side through the darkest times, and to ask the Blessed Mother for strength and courage to open your heart completely to God.
